Due to COVID-19, we have updated our process to issue spay and neuter vouchers to comply with the social distancing and the stay at home order set by the Governor. Carefully read the following steps on how to apply for a voucher.

Spay Neuter Assistance Program (SNAP) qualifications:

  1. You must live in the unincorporated area of Bernalillo County (Excluding Village of Los Ranchos and Village of Tijeras)
  2. We only issue 2 vouchers per household
  3. Must be 18 years of age or older to qualify

How do I apply for a voucher?

  1. Once you have verified your address and identified that you live in the unincorporated area of Bernalillo County excluding Village of Los Rancho and Village of Tijeras
  2. Call and make an appointment with one of the listed veterinary clinics below:

*NOTE: There may be other charges associated with a visit to any of these clinics. Payment for higher surgical fees, other vaccinations, or other health care services for your pet will be your responsibility. Bernalillo County will not reimburse for any additional costs. When you make your appointment ask what additional charges there may be and make sure you talk to them about your pet's age, some vets will not perform surgery depending on the pet's age and health history.

  1. Fill out an application using the following link:
  1. You will receive a confirmation once you submitted your form
  2. Bernalillo County Customer Service Representative will research and if no issues arise we will issue the voucher directly to the veterinary clinic specified on application
  3. We will email you a notification if we have rejected or approved your application for SNAP Voucher

*NOTE: The only reason we will reject an application is if you did not meet the qualifications stated above.

All Bernalillo County pet(s) must be licensed with Bernalillo County Animal Care Services.

Please provide a copy of your pet's current rabies certificate, microchip number and, proof of sterilization.
