County Clerk Thanks Fire Chief Perez and Lt. Coriz

On Feb. 12 at the Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners administrative meeting, Bernalillo County Clerk Linda Stover recognized the Bernalillo County Fire Department's Lt. Alex Coriz and Fire Chief Greg Perez for their assistance with the county's Mobile Voting Unit. Both were presented with the Bernalillo County Clerk’s Office Hero Award for the General Election 2018.

Chief Perez shared the Bernalillo County Clerk’s Office’s vision of the Mobile Voting Unit and believed in its concept from the beginning. He provided assets, advice and assistance, helping push the vision to the forefront, creating an avenue to make it a reality. Upon the unit’s arrival, Chief Perez helped us overcome obstacles in operating the unit, never hesitating in providing answers to problems, and providing professional, qualified drivers.

Chief Perez offered the services of Lt. Alex Coriz to drive our Mobile Voting Unit at its unveiling during the New Mexico State Fair Parade. Lt. Coriz immediately showed his professionalism and expertise in his ability to drive a 40-foot unit in a crowded area while maintaining a cheerful attitude.

Out of concern for the safety of the property and residents of Bernalillo County, Lt. Coriz cheerfully volunteered to deliver, park, and return the Mobile Voting Unit each day to and from the Bureau of Elections Warehouse during the 13 days of early voting.

Everyone needs a hero. Chief Perez and Lt. Coriz became heroes to the Clerk’s Office. They helped the Mobile Voting Unit become a reality, therefore making early voting more accessible to our senior citizens, and the community at large throughout Bernalillo County.
