    BernCo Youth Services Center Announces Changes to Juvenile Records Policy

    Effective Jan. 1, 2019, changes to the state juvenile detention standards require that a juvenile’s parent/guardian/custodian or the court grant permission in writing before there is any release of information to the public, including records and images.

    County Commission Approves New Youth Services Center Contract

    The BernCo Commission approved a new contract with the union representing BernCo's Youth Services Center employees, who will receive a one-time payout of $2,000.

    Youth Services Center Releases Detention Self Inspection Documents

    Every three years the Bernalillo County Youth Services Center conducts a Detention Self Inspection according to the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI) Standards.

    Canines: Lifelines at the Youth Services Center

    The Paz Project at Bernalillo County’s Youth Services Center (YSC), a canine education, therapy and enrichment program begun in January, is promoting a positive culture in the lives of at-risk youth, educating residents at the detention facility about “The Link” between animal abuse and community violence.

    Second Hoop Garden Dedicated at Youth Services Center

    On April 22, 2016 - Earth Day - Bernalillo County Commissioner Debbie O’Malley and the Youth Services Center invited the public to a ribbon-cutting ceremony for a new greenhouse on the east campus of the center outside the secure perimeter of the juvenile detention facility.
