Fiber-optic Cable Installation Project

Project Scope

Fiber OpticsBernalillo County is installing thousands of feet of fiber-optic cable to establish its own infrastructure for voice and data communications.  The fiber-optic cable provides a greater bandwidth to carry digital information. Individual fiber-optic lines are strands of optically pure glass as thin as a human hair that can carry the digital information over the long distances.

Installation locations:

Animal Care Facility - from Public Works to the Animal Care and Resource Center on Second St. | $250,000, in construction

 Fire Station on Price Street and then down to the Fire Training Center on Prosperity and Broadway and Mountain View Community Center | $300,000 (estimate), in design phase

Alameda Boulevard from South Rio Grande Boulevard to the Raymond G. Sanchez Community Center on 4th Street  | $211,000, completed

Paseo Del Norte from Fire Station Number 5 to the 911 Call Center on Holly | $78,000, completed 

Arenal Road from Isleta Blvd & Goff to Tapia Road and from the Rio Grande High School fitness center to Arenal Road | $120,000, completed
