County Commission Approves New Bernalillo County Fire Department Union Contract

06/27/2018

The Bernalillo County Commission has approved a new contract with the Albuquerque Area Firefighters Local 244, Bernalillo County chapter.

The agreement includes pay increases of 3 percent in fiscal year 2019 and 3 percent in fiscal year 2020. Also included in the agreement is a one-time payout of $1,000 to every union member.

“This new pay rate is a big step toward keeping pace with other firefighting organizations in the area,” says Bernalillo County Manager, Julie Morgas Baca. “We value our county firefighters and the work they do for the citizens of Bernalillo County.”

The 3 percent pay increase is effective July 1, 2018 and is for two years ending on June 30, 2020.

The commission approved the contract on a 4 to 1 vote with Commissioner O’Malley not present for the vote.
