BernCo Passes Minimum Wage Increase

On Oct. 15 the Bernalillo County Commission approved the minimum wage cost of living increase from $9.05 to $9.20 per hour. The increase will take effect Jan. 1, 2020.

The Employee Recognition Committee presents seven employees to the Board of Commissioners to receive the recognition of Employee of the Quarter. Each person selected received the highest ranking in their division. The recognition committee ranked each nomination form submitted and selected the employee from each division with the highest average. The Board of County Commissioners recognize and appreciate the hard work and dedication of seven employees who have shown exemplary dedication to Bernalillo County.

BernCo Commission Approves Plastic Bag and Styrofoam Ban in Unincorporated Bernalillo County

The Board of Commissioners tonight approved an ordinance to ban single-use plastic bags and Styrofoam (polystyrene) containers in the unincorporated areas of Bernalillo County, outside the city limits of Albuquerque.

Massive Behavioral Health Training and Education Efforts Launched by Bernalillo County

Sadly, New Mexico has some of the highest rates of mental illness and substance abuse in the nation- highlighting the need for a continuum of behavioral health care. In 2015 Bernalillo County created the Behavioral Health Initiative to build that system of care, to date, the BHI has created 19 programs.

    • Early Voting: 19 Early Voting Convenience Centers (EVCCs) are open October 19th - November 2nd, Monday – Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. This year’s election consolidates the following local governments on one Bernalillo County ballot: City of Albuquerque, Village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, Village of Tijeras, Albuquerque Public Schools, Central New Mexico Community College, Ventana West Public Improvement District, Paradise Hills Special Zoning District, Ciudad Soil and Water Conservation District, Valencia Soil and Water Conservation District, Albuquerque Metropolitan Arroyo Flood Control Authority.
