The Bernalillo County Public Art program is announcing a call for artists for an indoor mural in the new County Commission chambers at Alvarado Square.

The Alvarado Square chambers mural will be located on the south-facing wall outside of the County Commission chambers at the new county headquarters. The mural will be visible to the public both from inside the building and outside from Silver Avenue through glass windows.

The mural will also be used in the creation of an acrylic/glass art element behind the concierge desk, to form a screen for the building’s glass elevators.

The budget for the Alvarado Square chambers mural is $50,000. The winning proposal will create the design of the mural, engage in community outreach and implement installation.

The deadline for proposals is Aug. 1, 2020. Specifications and requirements for the mural are available in the online application at artist.callforentry.org/festivals_unique_info.php?ID=7674. There is no fee to submit a proposal.

Note: Bernalillo County @ Alvarado Square is a closed work site. Contact Kent Swanson, Public Art Project Coordinator at kswanson@bernco.gov or 505-314-0467 for more information about the site.
