Community Services

Bernalillo County Parks and Recreation is responsible for creating and providing recreation, leisure and community services necessary to promote public well-being and quality of life for youth, adults, senior citizens and special populations of Bernalillo County.

The county's community centers are integral to this mission.

What We Do:

  • Each Bernalillo County community center provides various programs and activities for youth and adults, such as the Summer Recreation Program, Parky's Pals Pre-School Recreation Program, aerobics and fitness classes, dance instruction, arts and crafts, and one-on-one literacy tutoring.
  • The Teen Program provides after-school recreation for children ages 13-17 years, such as field trips, dance crews and homework assistance. This program is held at the Westside and Mountain View Community Centers and the Paradise Hills Teen Center.
  • Raymond G. Sanchez, Los Vecinos, South Valley Multi-Purpose Senior Center and Paradise Hills community centers house senior citizen meal-site programs.
  • All community centers are used to host a variety of community organizations, events, sports leagues and meetings.

  • Pickleball offered Monday through Friday at the Los Vecinos Community Center. For more information, call (505) 314-0240.

  • Open Gym Volleyball for ages 16 plus. Membership fee is $12, or free for veterans and 60 years old and up.

  • Join us every Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. for Spring Family Fun Days. This free, family-fun activity features themed and educational weekly crafts and experiments. Check the flier for specific monthly themes.
