What Is the Youth Sports Commission?

Certify Your Youth Sports Organization

The Bernalillo County Parks & Recreation Department, in partnership with the Bernalillo County Youth Sports Commission, honors and supports businesses and individuals (Youth Sports Organizations) who have developed a wide variety of programs to provide healthy activities for our children.

As part of that support and to ensure the health, safety and welfare of the youth participants in the programs provided by Youth Sports Organizations that use public facilities in Bernalillo County, the Parks & Recreation Department and the Youth Sports Commission have developed a process by which Youth Sports Organizations can demonstrate their capacity to the public in a transparent manner through a certification program.

Those Youth Sports Organizations that receive certification will receive the designation of Certified Youth Sports Organization (CYSO). A CYSO has demonstrated that it adheres to best practices and has established reasonable operating procedures, which protect participants, volunteers, administrators and those who provide access to facilities.
