Bernalillo County Fire Department Unveils State of the Art Fire Engines

The Bernalillo County Fire Department dedicated two new fire engines at a traditional push-in ceremony at county fire station 32.

The engines are state-of-the-art with the latest in safety technology including the clean cab concept which allows firefighters to stow their gear during fire calls keeping fire personnel free of harmful cancer-causing carcinogens which may be attached to bunker gear and equipment.

“The health and wellness of our firefighters is a top priority in the department,” says Bernalillo County Fire Chief Greg Perez. “By purchasing equipment with this new clean cab technology, we hope our firefighters will live longer and healthier lives after their careers with the county have ended.”

The new engines mark the completion of a 10-year project to replace all of the county’s black and red units. That project began with the replacement of engines 32 and 33 and today’s replacement of those same engines starts the project anew.

Stations 32 and 33, in the South Valley, will each receive one of the new engines.
