(CORRECTED) Commissioner Steven Michael Quezada Funds Summer Programs

06/05/2020

Bernalillo County District 2 Commissioner Steven Michael Quezada is funding a virtual summer program that will allow kids to take karate classes and horsemanship lessons via Zoom.

“It’s important to give the kids an outlet and some sort of normalcy during this coronavirus pandemic,” says District 2 Commissioner Steven Michael Quezada. “They love technology and now they can use that technology to do some fun things.”

The classes will be available as follows:

  • Horsemanship – June 8 and June 10
  • Karate Basics – June 9 and June 11

In order to participate, individuals must like BernCo on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/BerncoParks/. Links to program videos will be posted daily on the County Parks and Recreation Facebook page.

Commissioner Quezada previously offered free masks to restaurant workers and seniors, and provided hand sanitizer to South Valley residents.

Commissioner Quezada says political leaders need to step up and do what’s right. “I’m taking care of all of my constituents, whether they can vote or not. This is what county dollars should be used for, helping out in tough times.”

Commissioner Quezada represents District 2 which encompasses the South Valley and Southwest Mesa.
