Bernalillo County Assessor’s Office Delivers the Property Tax Schedule

Bernalillo County Assessor Tanya R. Giddings has signed and delivered the 2019 property tax schedule for all real and personal property subject to property taxation, to the County Treasurer’s Office. This necessary process allows the treasurer to calculate and mail out the property tax bills in December of 2019. These assessed values are based upon market conditions as of January 1, 2019.

The new BernCo Animal Care and Resource Center will be open from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Tuesdays through Saturdays with adoptions from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The center will be closed on Sundays, Mondays and all Bernalillo County holidays.

The Bernalillo County Treasurer’s Office announces the mailing of the 2019 property tax bills. Due to the diligent work of the Treasurer’s Office and Printing Vendor, the property tax bills should be available to the public on Dec. 9. The property tax bills were delayed due to changes in state law (House Bill 407-2019). Adjusted Bernalillo County tax bill dates are as follows: Dec. 9, 2019- Mailing of property tax bills Dec. 19, 2019- Payment due date Jan. 19, 2020- Final due date without late penalties and interest

The BernCo Animal Care and Resource Center has been awarded a grant to host a “Dogs Playing for Life” training seminar at the center. It will take place from Friday, Dec. 13 through Monday, Dec. 16, 2019. Due to the training, the BernCo Animal Care and Resource Center will be closed to the public on Friday, Dec. 13 and Saturday, Dec. 14.

Bernalillo County Manager Julie Morgas Baca has announced that Margarita Chavez-Sanchez is the new director for the county’s Department of Behavioral Health Services.

On Dec. 4 Bernalillo County Parks, Recreation and Open Space Department is hosting a public meeting regarding the use of the property located north of Edith Blvd, formally known as Sandia Ranch. The county acquired the property in 2015 and is updating proposed uses for the land.

2019 property tax statements will be delayed due to the new state law (House Bill 407-2019) allowing school districts a mill levy question on the November election ballot. Property tax bills will be mailed Dec. 9 and are due Dec. 19.

The Metropolitan Detention Center is upgrading its inmate phone system. As of Nov. 1, Bernalillo County’s inmate phone service contract will switch over from its current provider, Securus, to the new provider, GTL.

Beginning Oct. 18, 2019, inmates and their family and friends have a new way to conduct video visitation at the Metropolitan Detention Center. The entire facility has undergone an upgrade to the visitation system, installing new tablet monitors. The new tablet monitors replace the original video visitation system put in place when the facility opened back in 2003.

The Bernalillo County Commission approved amendments to the newly enacted paid time off ordinance.

Due to action taken by the New Mexico State Legislature last session, tax payments usually collected between November 10th and December 10th this year will be collected from December 10th to January 10th.
