Bernalillo County commissioners approved the award of the demolition contract for the Regional Correctional Center to Guzman Construction Solutions. The demolition of the old jail, at Fifth and Roma, will be completed using a controlled, non-explosive demotion process.

The Office of Senior and Social Services is sponsoring a new online program for Spanish speaking seniors. “Remedios y recetas caseras" is a free phone/online group for seniors 60 and over which begins Saturday, Jan. 9 and continues through April 24, 2021. The group will meet every Saturday from 2 to 2:30 p.m. MST.

Five elected officials including two newly elected Bernalillo County Commissioners were sworn into office on January 1, at the Bernalillo County District Courthouse. The officials taking the Oath of Office include: Linda Stover, County Clerk; Nancy Bearce, County Treasurer; Steven Michael Quezada, Commissioner for District 2; Adriann Barboa, Commissioner for District 3; and Walt Benson, Commissioner for District 4.
Bernalillo County Manager Julie Morgas Baca would like to extend a sincere thank you to all residents of the county on behalf of the Bernalillo County Commission and staff for supporting six general obligation bond measures on the November 2019 ballot.
Five separate projects, $500 million dollars, 1,200 permanent jobs, 1,300 construction jobs. Amazon, Ben E. Keith, Fed Ex and New Mexico Fresh Foods and Wagner Equipment are locating or relocating along the I-40/I 25 corridors with the ability to move goods and services regionally across the U.S.
