Early Voting for June 5 Primary Election In Progress

Early voting for the June 5, 2018 primary election is ongoing at early voting locations Monday-Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through June 2, 2018. You must be a registered Democrat, Republican, or Libertarian to vote in the primary election.

County Pools and Spray Parks Open Memorial Day Weekend

Bernalillo County swimming pools and the Alameda Spray Park will open Saturday, May 26 at noon. The South Valley Pool and Splash Pad will not open until sometime in July as construction continues on the splash pad and bath house.

Bernco Pools
Bernalillo County swimming pools and the Alameda Spray Park will open Saturday, May 26 at noon. Three of the county’s four pools, plus the spray park will open for the season providing a safe and enjoyable way to beat the New Mexico heat.

On May 22, 2018, Bernalillo County leaders officially opened the county’s new Resource Reentry Center [RRC], a first stop for individuals released from the Metropolitan Detention Center as they reintegrate into the community. The RRC will help former offenders navigate the transition from jail to society by offering access to the services and support they may need to stabilize, stay healthy, regain self-sufficiency, and break the cycle of recidivism.
alvarado square renovations
Bernalillo County is working toward relocating the majority of its administrative offices to Alvarado Square, but before that can happen, the building has to be renovated to meet customer service needs and to accommodate about 900 employees who will be relocating to make the day-to-day operations of county government more efficient. The county is in the process of hiring a design-build team for the renovation project.

The fire danger across Bernalillo County is expected to be very high due to extreme drought with the fire season starting earlier than normal. So the BernCo Commission voted on April 10, 2018, to ban the use of open fires, campfires, and smoking in the unincorporated areas of Bernalillo County for the next 180 days.
